The U.S. stock market had a strong start to the year, with major indices posting gains:
- S&P 500: +2.7%
- Dow Jones Industrial Average: +4.7%
- Nasdaq Composite: +1.64%
My portfolio outperformed all major U.S. indices, delivering a solid +7.41% return in January.
What Drove This Performance?
Several key events contributed to the market’s bullish momentum:
✅ President Trump officially took office, announcing significant investments in AI.
✅ Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell delivered a dovish speech, hinting at a more accommodative stance on interest rates.

My risk score remained stable at 6 (medium) throughout January. Maintaining a healthy cash position (27%) is crucial for risk management and allows me to take advantage of market opportunities when prices dip.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for 2025?
One of the most reliable market indicators, the January Barometer (from the Stock Trader’s Almanac), suggests that:
“As goes January, so goes the rest of the year.”
Historically, when January ends in the green, the stock market tends to maintain its strength for the rest of the year. Based on this, I expect 2025 to be a strong year for equities.
I also anticipate a bullish year for cryptocurrencies, fueled by President Trump’s pro-crypto stance.
Of course, financial markets will experience periodic pullbacks, which are a natural part of investing. My strategy remains the same: monitor the markets daily, make strategic adjustments, and maximize returns while keeping a medium-risk profile.

- Invest a minimum of $2,000: This ensures proper diversification and mirrors my portfolio effectively.
- Focus on the long term: Keep the copy open for an extended period to benefit from compounding and market recoveries.
