Market Insights: February 2025

The U.S. stock market had a negative month, with major indices posting losses:

  • S&P 500: -1.42%
  • Dow Jones Industrial Average: -1.58%
  • Nasdaq Composite: -3.97%

The crypto currency sector has also registered negative performances with a -17.62 % for Bitcoin, falling below $80K.

What Drove This Performance?

The negative performances in both U.S. stock markets and Bitcoin during February 2025 were driven by a combination of:

  • President Donald Trump’s administration has proposed significant tariffs on various imports, including cars, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Major outflows from Bitcoin ETFs.
  • Speculation that the AI boom is failing to live up to the hype
  • Geopolitical tensions escalated following a contentious meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, with Trump accusing Zelenskyy of “gambling with World War Three”

  • 28% Stocks
  • 30% ETFs
  • 11% Crypto
  • 31% Cash

My risk score remained stable at 6 (medium) throughout February. I have not closed any position during the recent decline.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for March 2025?

March will be a volatile month due to the following factors:

  • The next FOMC meeting on March 19-20 will be crucial. Markets are watching whether the Fed hints at rate cuts in June or if strong inflation data pushes them to delay.
  • Geopolitical uncertainty (Russia, China tariffs) could trigger market swings.
  • Bitcoin faces key support levels

My strategy remains the same: monitor the markets daily, make strategic adjustments, and maximize returns while keeping a medium-risk profile.
